An introduction

Hello. I’ve wanted to start a journal for some time and have at times, got as far as writing a couple of posts. But never gotten as far as being happy enough to publish. But I’ve come a long way and do not want to wait any longer. I have so much to share with others but also selfishly, love the idea of writing for myself, to make sense of my own thoughts and ideas and, to learn a long the way. Call it therapy.

One reason I haven’t started, is because I haven’t been quite sure of my angle. Let me explain. My passion in life is Design, and in particular, interiors and property development. But that’s not it. I also have an interest and deep commitment to personal development and in some ways, I’ve been looking for ways to marry the two.

I don’t just want to share pretty pictures, but more question and discuss things that I think matter. Unfortunately my neat and tidy mind wanted everything all worked out before I got House of Scrase off the ground. I agonised over setting myself up as an interior designer, but I never felt completely comfortable with it. Hard to know why exactly but I know it is extremely difficult setting up in Business on our own.

So more recently, after having started a new role, albeit on a part-time basis, I felt more than ever, that I didn’t want to lose my creative ideas and dreams. And that I should finish my website and simply let HOS unfold. A bit like the job I am doing, where I am supporting others to follow their dreams.

So here goes - I will hit publish today. But, what to expect?

I will be sharing my current home renovation, the highs and lows, no doubt. But also some things I’ve learnt and want to share. You may see my latest project - a bargain furniture piece that I sourced on my travels, that I am reinventing, a current room I am working on in our old rectory home. Or, something, someone or somewhere that I just want to share because I think is fabulous!

The dream - there are a few!

  • I would like to create affordable resources for others around home interiors, sourcing and styling. Don’t we all deserve access to interior design advice? Watch this space!

  • To one day, use our home as a place to run creative workshops for likeminded souls. I have always dreamt of having a lifestyle business and this could be it. Something I will contiue to work towards.

  • Another, is to get really good at Photography. I’ve been working on this quietly, and I can definitely see progress, but there is so much more to learn. I look forward to getting myself a swanky camera very soon.

  • And lastly, I would love to be published, maybe this is it… I should definitely get writing and simply let it all unfold.

I hope you will join me. Welcome!
